Leo Hanifin, a writer, local Livingston County resident and former dean at the University of Detroit Mercy wrote “A Brief History of Race Relations in Livingston County, Michigan,” a five-chapter book that covers the area's Indigenous peoples, the rise of the Ku Klux Klan, the Civil Rights movement and modern race relations.
