Dr. W.C. Ransom of New Haven, Michigan concocted a scheme in which he would helm the schooner ‘George L. Wrenn’ in an around the world trip that would take three years. He enticed investors and crew alike, but when the day came to depart, Dr. Ransom mysteriously disappeared.
